Education, participation and the city

La Viñenale extends beyond the concert stage with a series of educational and participatory activities connecting guest artists with students, young musicians and the wider public. Workshops, masterclasses and activities open to the city complete the festival programme and strengthen the connection between the Competition and the local community.

Workshop with ESMUC Conducting Students

Activity for ESMUC conducting students

A practical session for ESMUC conducting students, focusing on the relationship between conductor and soloist, the preparation of concerto repertoire and artistic communication during rehearsals. Participants will work on excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 and Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with the two guest pianists.

Masterclasses with Students of the Ricard Viñes Conservatory

The two First Prize winners invited to La Viñenale will work with young pianists from the Ricard Viñes Municipal Conservatory of Music. An opportunity to share experiences, explore repertoire in greater depth and bring students closer to the talent that has emerged from the Competition.

Free activity

An open and participatory event in which Yuanfan Yang will improvise on melodies, styles and challenges suggested by the audience. Young students from Lleida’s music schools will also take part, performing short excerpts that the pianist will use as the basis for new live improvisations.

Improvisation Workshop at L’Intèrpret

Activity with students, open to the public

A practical workshop for students at L’Intèrpret interested in improvisation. Starting from melodies, ideas and materials proposed by the participants, Yuanfan Yang will demonstrate different ways of transforming them and building a spontaneous musical discourse. Students will have the opportunity to put these tools into practice and experiment with live improvisation.

Masterclasses with Young Pianists

Activity with students, open to the public

The three pianists performing in the closing concert will give masterclasses to students from the conservatories of Lleida and Cervera and from L’Intèrpret. The activity encourages direct contact between Ricard Viñes Competition prizewinners and young musical talent from the region, creating a space for work, listening and artistic exchange.
