17–24 September 2026 · Lleida and Barcelona. The first edition of La Viñenale will combine concerts, heritage, contemporary creation, educational activities and participatory events, bringing back to Lleida several prizewinners of the Ricard Viñes International Piano Competition.

Collaboration with ESMUC. Pianist and conductor: dialogue with the soloist

Participants: conducting students and guest pianists from La Viñenale
A training session focused on the relationship between conductor and piano soloist. Participants will work on excerpts from concerto repertoire and explore aspects such as tempo flexibility, breathing, cues, accompaniment and musical communication between soloist and conductor.

Masterclasses with First Prize winners of the Ricard Viñes Competition

The First Prize winners of the 2023 and 2025 editions will work with students from the Ricard Viñes Municipal Conservatory of Music in Lleida in a session devoted to repertoire, interpretation and artistic development.
The session will conclude with a short discussion on the pianists’ professional careers, competition preparation and musical life after the competition.

Two First Prizes, One Emerging Talent

The opening concert will bring together two First Prize winners of the Ricard Viñes Competition — Anthony Ratinov, First Prize 2023, and Yuanfan Yang, First Prize 2025 — with Lleida-born oboist Andrea Budau, winner of the 2025 Ricard Viñes Scholarship.
The programme will combine works for piano and orchestra, solo oboe, piano four hands and repertoire connected with the musical world of Ricard Viñes. It will include music by Rimsky-Korsakov, Jean Françaix, Francis Poulenc, César Franck and Maurice Ravel.

Ricard Viñes: music, mural and improvisation
Time: 11.00
Venue: area around the Ricard Viñes mural
Artist: Yuanfan Yang
Participants: young students from music schools in Lleida
An activity open to everyone, bringing La Viñenale into the public space. Young musicians will perform short excerpts connected with Ricard Viñes and his musical world.
Using these performances as a starting point, Yuanfan Yang will transform melodies, rhythms and harmonies through improvisation. The audience will also be invited to suggest ideas, styles, emotions or small musical challenges for the pianist to turn into live music.

Improvisation workshop with Yuanfan Yang

Participants: improvisation students
Yuanfan Yang, pianist, composer and improviser, will share his creative tools with young musicians interested in improvisation.
The session will explore how to develop a spontaneous musical idea, transform melodies and harmonies, and build an individual musical discourse from simple materials.

An intimate concert with a First Prize winner of the Ricard Viñes Competition, conceived in a more direct, informal and audience-friendly format.
The pianist will perform a selection of solo repertoire and introduce the audience to the works, his experiences and his connection with the Ricard Viñes Competition.

A day of work and exchange between La Viñenale artists and young students from Lleida and the surrounding region.
The sessions will offer the opportunity to work on repertoire, explore interpretative questions and establish direct contact with pianists awarded prizes in different editions of the Ricard Viñes Competition.

An immersive experience conceived especially for the central nave of the Seu Vella, in which music, architecture, movement and visual projection will interact continuously.
Three pianos distributed throughout the space will create different listening points and surround the audience. The programme will combine solo piano, two and three pianos, voice and piano, contemporary creation, live projections and the participation of young students.
The concert will explore the musical world of Ricard Viñes through works by Ravel, Tailleferre, Milhaud, Stravinsky, Guridi, Rimsky-Korsakov, Roger-Ducasse, Poulenc, Casella, Borodin, Mussorgsky and Mompou, alongside contemporary composers Joan Magrané, Marc Migó and Gabriel Durliat. Works by Ricard Viñes for voice and piano will also be presented.
